We are searching for a Business Applications Analyst to support organizational objectives by identifying opportunities to improve business processes through applying and integrating financial software technology and supporting, maintaining, and testing financial software applications.  This position will monitor data integrity of NOVEC financial software systems.  The selected individual will act as a point of contact for employees and departments who utilize the system and/or data from the system.   This person will collect and prioritize division information requirements and develop plans and activities that will result in the automation of these requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reviews user requests for system modifications, process improvements, reports requirements, and recommends best solution for achieving desired results in consultation with technical resource.
  • Trains user's especially new hires on utilizing the functionalities of the accounting software applications. Conducts software orientation workshops and seminars and coordinates development, training, communication needs for employees associated with the accounting application.
  • Understands and manages data integrity of accounting application and the relationship of accounting data with all corporate applications.
  • Possesses skill sets to constantly research the accounting application from end user perspective and come up with improved processes and become an application super user.
  • Coordinates and conducts accounting business process reviews to capture the current state of the process, identify problems, develop and evaluate solutions, and apply new process as applicable.
  • Prepares current accounting process documentation and user training guides.
  • Ability to conduct workshops to identify accounting process improvements and document the same.
  • Conducts initial system troubleshooting and recommends resolution to end-user and forwards technical resolutions issues to a technical staff.
  • Tests upgrade of software modifications; and coordinates the installation of new releases ensuring compatibility with all corporate applications.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or another related field is required.  Two to three years of experience in the accounting or finance field is required.  Must have one to two years of experience in business analysis and documenting accounting business processes.  Knowledge of accounting regulatory bodies is desired.  Basic understanding of databases is essential.  Certification in business process re-engineering, lean management or CPA is a plus, but not required.

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Demonstrated ability to function independently in a multi-task environment, as well as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of all company policies and procedures as well as all applicable federal, state, and local laws.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and mathematical skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with general computer operation and Microsoft Office applications. Knowledge of relational databases, table structures, querying functionality, report writing; software troubleshooting.  Must be a super user in Microsoft Excel and Visio.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and efficiently with all levels within the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and meet rapidly changing customer and business needs by quickly refocusing and realigning strategic and operational direction.
  • Demonstrated business and technical writing skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and understand issues, identify and solves problems, and to think analytically and logically.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to rapidly changing technology to meet business needs.
